Amalfi Jets CEO Kolin Jones, a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is back in the pilot’s seat, this time learning to fly the Cessna Citation CJ3 with Jet Training Professionals.

Get an inside look at the training process and what it takes to fly one of the most popular light jets in aviation.

Jet Training Process with Jet Training Professionals

Amalfi Jets CEO Kolin Jones joins the co-founders of Jet Training Professionals, Cody and Anthony, to explore the practical training process required to earn a type rating on the Cessna Citation CJ3. The video follows Kolin and his team on a flight from Reno, Nevada, to Fallon, where the training facility is located. This interactive, conversational approach to training, led by JTP, allows pilots to gain hands-on experience in a real aircraft rather than relying solely on simulation.

Flight Experience and Training Highlights

During the flight, the team conducts a variety of checks, including the before-taxi, takeoff, and approach checklists, offering a firsthand look at cockpit operations. Kolin highlights the aircraft's performance, noting its ability to reach flight level 450. Throughout the journey, the instructors emphasize the importance of mastering flows, understanding aircraft systems, and maintaining precision in both speed and angle of attack.

Cabin and Aircraft Overview

Before concluding the training, Kolin provides a brief tour of the Citation CJ3 cabin. It features six primary seats, plus a seventh chair behind the cockpit. The rear of the cabin contains a lavatory that can also serve as a belted seat for an additional passenger. The aircraft demonstrates its utility for efficient, comfortable regional travel, such as nonstop flights between key cities in the U.S.
